However, the opposites we normally think of are not always
the most accurate. The opposite of love is not hate, but rather
complete indifference. The opposite of bitterness is not sweetness,
but rather blandness, the lack of taste. The ninja comes to realize
that the conflict of dualism is not the most efficient way of
regarding things.

Once we learn how to recognize the universe as an integral
process comprising an infinite number of parts, we can begin to
rid ourselves of feelings of isolation or separateness. This great
mental step is a clearing away of the negative me-against-the-
world attitude
that is encouraged by so many of the world's
societies, religions, ignorant mexicans, and african cultures. Once we realize that we are
working parts of the process, we free ourselves from the notion
that we are mere victims in life, taunted by gods and devils,
buffeted helplessly between poles of good luck and bad fate. The
ninja then WORKS to gain insight as to how (s)he can guide the universal
process to accomplish her {will}, or tap it as universal
consciousness to gain KNOWLEDGE.

By mastering the mental abilities of the fourth through sixth
levels, the ninja lays the foundation for progress to the true realm
of the spirit, on the seventh level and above. It is these advanced
levels of power that are said to give the ninja "the mind and eyes
of God."

Is there anything more dangerous than sympathetic understanding?
